Workshop on Solid Waste Management for MM2100 Industrial Town and its Tenants

Virtual

Capacity building specified for solid waste management, both industrial (including hazardous waste) and domestic waste was identified to support the enhancement of MM2100 EIP implementation. As the first step, a two days’ virtual capacity building was held for MM2100 on 5-6 May 2021 to increase knowledge and further raise awareness on EIP.

Workshop on Water and wastewater treatment for Batamindo Industrial Park and Its Tenants

Following up the introductory workshop of RECP and EIP in early May 2021, a tailor-made capacity building designed for Batamindo Industrial Park was held on 2-3 June 2021. This two days’ virtual workshop, specified for water and wastewater management (including recycling water procedure to produce halal quality potable water was identified to support the enhancement of Batamindo EIP implementation.

This workshop on Implementation of Solar Photo Voltaic in Eco-Industrial Parks (EIP) to be held for several industrial parks to increase knowledge and further raise awareness on Eco Industrial Park (EIP) and to further explain the know-how of the Solar PV installation in the industries, the key challenges and the social, environmental, economic benefits of the installation, and the relevant regulations and policies in place that may enable and support its implementation and its development.

The field visit to see the progress the implementation of Global Eco-Industrial Park Programme-Indonesia Country Level Intervention (GEIPP-Indonesia) collaboration between UNIDO with the Ministry of Industry of Republic of Indonesia funded by Secretariat of Economic Affairs, Government of Switzerland and the project is formally started w.e.f. 1st July 2020 for a period of two and a-half years.

Terms of Reference Workshop on Improving Social Performance of Industrial Parks (IPs) in Indonesia

Eco industrial park program organized by Unido aims to change industrial areas in Indonesia into environmentally friendly industrial areas. There are many efforts to realize the eco industrial park program, one of which is social indicators. Social indicators are statistical time series that are "used to monitor the social system, helping to identify changes and to guide intervention to alter the course of social change". Through the implementation of social indicators for industrial estates, the social objectives can be more clearly defined of which can construct, the process of data collection to measure and monitor social results and assess and report progress. Reporting includes both internal reports that assess and improve decision making and external reports that demonstrate whether social objectives are being achieved.

Within the framework of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP) in Developing and Transition Countries currently implemented by UNIDO and funded by the Government of Switzerland through its State Secretariat of Economic Affairs, this Project–the GEIPP Indonesia Country Level Intervention–will address the development of eco-industrial parks in Indonesia. Through the cooperation with Ministry of Industry, GEIPP programme will support the implementation of capacity building series for industrial parks and tenant SMEs to meet international standards and requirements, that includes social indicator to meet all of the eco industrial park minimum requirements. The social benefits deriving from EIP activities can catalyze the creation of quality local jobs through better working conditions.
